A top-tier Congressional race in Northern Virginia is seeking a Field Director to join ASAP and work through (at least) the primary in June. The Field Director will refine the campaign’s field strategy and lead a team of Organizers, as well as directly executing traditional field activities themselves. The most competitive candidates will have at least two cycles of field experience, including GOTV experience, OR several years of work experience that includes both staff management experience and data/analytical work. Also requires excellent communication skills. Knowledge of VAN/targeting a strong plus. Applicants must have access to a car and laptop and be willing to relocate to the Northern Virginia area.


  • Develop a Field Strategy for both persuasion and GOTV, including a nuanced targeting strategy
  • Recruit, train and manage Field Organizers and Paid Canvassers
  • Recruit, train and manage volunteers
  • Oversee quality control on field program, including top-notch data management
  • Serve as the Point of Contact for out-of-district groups bringing volunteers
  • Set up daily and weekly reporting structures with Field Organizers
  • Work with campaign leadership and Democratic caucus staff
  • Design, deploy, test, and update field messaging
  • Take ownership of key field metrics, including ballot signatures, calls, doors knocked, and ID’d supporters
  • Other duties as assigned


  • At least two cycles of campaign field experience, OR several years of work experience that includes both staff management and data/analytical work 
  • Detail-oriented, excellent at data management, meticulous with keeping track of information
  • Strong ability with public speaking, able to serve as a representative of the campaign
  • Confidentiality regarding campaign information and employee information
  • (Preferred) Experience with Votebuilder
  • Able to comprehend messaging and strategy to appropriately train volunteers
  • Access to a car and laptop
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Willingness to relocate to the Northern Virginia area
  • Able to work long irregular hours (including most nights and weekends)
  • Leadership ability to guide and develop staff
