Eve Grossman-Bukowski, the former government affairs director for the Port of Oakland, has joined TechNet as its new California executive director. Grossman-Bukowski will be responsible for TechNet’s state legislative advocacy political operations and member relations in California.
 
 
“We are fortunate and delighted to have Eve Grossman-Bukowski, with her tremendous talent and contacts across the state, join the TechNet team as our California executive director,” said TechNet’s President and CEO Rey Ramsey in a statement announcing the move.
 
With offices in six U.S. cities, Tech-Net is a bipartisan network of CEOs that advocates for growth in the technology industry by building relationships between technology leaders and policymakers.
 

Matthew R. Cox, previously an attorney and registered lobbyist at Tucker, Ellis & West, a Cleveland-based law firm, has joined the government affairs practice of McDonald Hopkins LLCas of counsel.
 
Cox has many years of practice in government relations, including work with the Ohio auditor of state and as senior deputy attorney general in the office of former
Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro. Cox has also managed a number of county and statewide campaigns.
 
Michael Caputo, a principal and director of government affairs with McDonald Hopkins, said in a statement that Cox is an “outstanding” addition to the team. “His experience in politics, government, and law gives Matt the type of background that will develop insightful solutions for our clients,” said Caputo.
 
McDonald Hopkins has offices in five U.S. cities and is a comprehensive law firm that provides specialized legal services to clients in a broad array of private and public sector areas.
 

Carol Ballockhas joined Weber Shandwickas executive vice president of the firm’s corporate practice. Ballock comes to Weber Shandwick from Burson-Marsteller, where she was managing director of the corporate and financial communications
practice. Ballock is also a writer and contributed to the book Wisdom of the CEO: 29 Global Leaders Tackle Today’s Most Pressing Business Challenges.
 
Ballock will oversee the firm’s Voiceboxx and Scoreboxx offerings, which employ a variety of methods to raise executive visibility and build corporate brands. She will also be responsible for generating thought leadership platforms for C-suite executives, as well has helping them raise their stature among key stakeholders.

Howard Consulting Group, a Washington, D.C.–based public affairs firm, has added Emily Passinias director of public affairs. In her new position, Passini will aid clients with grassroots mobilization efforts as well as coalition building and third party outreach.
 
Passini comes to Howard Consulting Group from the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, where she served as political director, overseeing strategy and spending decisions on races in thirteen states across the country. Before joining the DLCC, Passini was campaignn director for the Tennessee House Democratic Caucus and deputy political director for the New Jersey Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee. She also spent two years in Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen’s administration as special assistant for policy to the commissioner of mental health and developmental disabilities.

Prior to law school, Israel served as legislative assistant for U.S. Rep. Donald A. Manzullo (R-IL), dealing with financial services, healthcare, and transportation and energy.
 
Butera, a former captain in the U.S. Marine Corps who served two tours of duty in Vietnam, is a noted legislative advocate and a decorated soldier. He is a contributing author to Jaws of Victory, an analysis of presidential politics. In 1988, he was part of
a team of industry experts selected to prepare a report on major banking issues facing the incoming Bush administration.

Former Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo has joined Peak Capital Investment Services as a marketing executive. Tancredo served in Congress as a Republican for five terms, ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, and ran for Colorado governor on a third-party line in 2010.
 
In a statement announcing his new role, Tancredo noted that after losing money invested with fraudsters Bernie Madoff and Tom Petters, he conducted an exhaustive search for a new investment advisory firm and, in the end, chose to go with Peak Capital. In working for the firm, he wrote, he hopes “to continue to improve the lives of fellow citizens, this time by helping them find the right investment management firm so they [can] avoid the painful trial and error process I suffered through.”

Russell (Rusty) Robertshas joined BGR Government Affairsas managing director of the firm’s transportation practice.
 
Roberts, who has more than twenty years of experience on Capitol Hill and has been active in Florida politics for nearly thirty years, is a former chief of staff for U.S. Rep. John Mica (R-FL). Burkscomes to Steptoe after working on Capitol Hill for almost two decades. Most recently, she spent over five years as chief of staff to then-Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR). Prior to that, she spent seven years as chief of staff for then-Rep. Jim Turner (D-TX).
 
Former Sen. Conwell’s background includes fundraising for high-profile political clients in national and statewide races. In 2009, she co-founded iDONATEpro, a fundraising software solution. In 2008, she served as deputy finance director on John McCain’s presidential campaign.
 
In her new position, Conwell will oversee the marketing of the extensive voter inventory maintained by i360.
